Manufacturing Facility Heating

Powrmatic partnered with CK Services 1990 Ltd to deliver a fully integrated warm air heating system for MTL Advanced’s new manufacturing facility. The solution included six high-efficiency LXF warm air heaters with intelligent modulating controls and ten destratification fans, designed to provide even, reliable heat distribution across a large racked environment.

Project Background

MTL Advanced is one of the UK’s leading contract manufacturers for military-grade armour plating and precision engineering. With the construction of a new, purpose-built facility in Rotherham, the client required a robust heating system capable of maintaining consistent working temperatures across large, open-plan spaces with high ceilings and heavy-duty racking. The system needed to eliminate heat stratification, offer flexible control, and ensure energy efficiency in line with their operational standards. Having previously used Powrmatic equipment in other buildings, including the WEC Engineering facility in Darwen, the client was confident in both the product and approach.

Project Solution

With design input from Powrmatic’s Dave Garvey, CK Services specified and installed six LXF 70kW warm air heaters, each controlled via MC200 fully modulating controllers to deliver responsive, efficient heat output. To combat stratification, ten CECX 1400 destratification fans were installed throughout the building, ensuring even temperature distribution at all working levels. The gas pipework, designed and installed by CK Services, used Pressfit stainless steel for durability and ease of installation. All works were completed by CK Services’ in-house engineering team — no subcontractors were used.

Project Result

The system is now fully commissioned and delivering excellent performance. The facility benefits from consistent temperatures throughout, improved energy control, and reduced heat loss. MTL Advanced now operates with a dependable, efficient heating solution aligned with the high standards required in the defence manufacturing sector — designed by CK Services and powered by Powrmatic technology.
