Printing Facility Heating - Denny Bros

Printing Facility Heating Solution

Working in partnership with Goodey Services Ltd and SDF Mechanical Services Powrmatic was selected to supply a printing facility heating system in a temperature critical environment at Denny Bros in Bury St Edmunds installing the latest ErP compliant LX unit heaters.

  • “We as installers and the client were all very impressed with the new style and colour of the heaters and several comments were made by staff on how smart they look. The new style LX models are still as previous models very easy to install and commission and our client is extremely happy with its performance and reliability now after replacing the existing brand's damaged heaters.”

Shaun Fuller - Director - SDF Mechanical Services

Project Background

Denny Bros, A global leader in multi-page labelling and printing solutions required a replacement printing facility heating overhaul that previously had existing brand heaters installed. Working in partnership with Goodey Services & SDF Mechanical Services, Shaun and Karl attended the site with Powrmatic Representative Martin Arden, who quickly established the customer’s requirements. With existing Powrmatic heaters in other areas of the building, the client requested that new Powrmatic heaters be installed due to the reliability and performance of the Powrmatic heaters.

Project Solution

On removal of 2 existing brand heaters in the goods-in warehouse, our partnership installers at SDF and Goodey Services replaced the two units with one of the latest LX70 Freeblowing unit heater. The main pressroom saw the removal of 3 existing brand heaters and replaced them with two new Powrmatic LX90-Bi-Directional unit heaters. Each heater now had an upgraded control system using the user-friendly MC200 controller. As with all printing facility heating requirements, each building required certain temperatures to be met to ensure materials, paper and ink were kept safe. New room-sealed flue systems were installed, upgrading from the previous open-flued systems to maximise safety for the factory operatives.

Project Result

Reducing the number of heaters by introducing bi-directional models has now reduced the client’s annual service cost. Vertical louvre kits were also installed to set up the airflow from the heaters to maximum effect and the requirements of the pressroom staff. Our installers and their client were all very impressed with the new style, and colour of the heaters and several comments were made by staff on how smart they look. The new LX traffic light operation modes were easy to diagnose by the site manager as he knew he could (if required) report any issues to the installers who could come equipped with the necessary parts, furthermore, reducing costs of a call-out visit for diagnosis and minimising heating down-time which is critical in any printing facility heating building.
